Our Dog Story

Several years back, lifelong animal lovers, Marlene Most and her son, Bret, adopted their dog Olivia. Olivia's energetic nature proved to be a lot to handle, so the Most household decided to add a dog to their pack to share her energies and herding instincts.

In fall 2006, Marlene and Bret adopted Heidi, a malnourished Husky/German Shepherd mix. With lots of love and even more dog food, Heidi blossomed into a beautiful, good-natured pet.

The vet school she was taken to diagnosed the pup with open, deep digital flexor tendon contracture. But the professionals were unsure of the cause. This was a forelimb deformity not seen in dogs Heidi's age.

After grueling physical therapy and the use of splints, Heidi showed no improvement. And although she's crippled, Heidi has adapted to her situation nicely. Her energy, genteel nature and playfulness still shine through.

But the story doesn't end there. Heidi set off an entrepreneurial spark with Marlene, a human nutrition specialist by profession who has a doctorate in veterinary physiology.

Combining her two loves—her dogs and baking for people—Most Delightful Foods was born and debuted in late 2007. Marlene's dream of a bakery shifted to creating healthy dog treats. Although there have been no studies on the products, Marlene is hopeful that the natural ingredients and antioxidants will be beneficial to Heidi and other dogs who love the products.
