Ingredients

Our products have the same base ingredients that were selected for their nutritional clout. Most are ranked high in antioxidant content. Antioxidants help protect our cells from molecules called free radicals that damage body tissues and organs. When studied in humans, antioxidants show benefits in cardiovascular disease, some cancers, chronic degenerative disease, and aging.
- Sweet potatoes, a Louisiana product, are rich in dietary fiber, potassium, vitamins A, C and B6. The antioxidant beta-carotene imparts their deep yellow-orange color. They are considered one of the top 10 healthy foods, and when compared to other vegetables, sweet potatoes rank No. 1 in nutritional value! Sweet potatoes may help reduce the risk of some cancers in humans.
- 100% rolled oats contribute a healthy supply of dietary fiber, called beta-glucan, well known for its cholesterol-lowering properties. By including soluble fiber in our diets, we can lower our risk of heart disease.
- Almonds, cashews, macadamia nuts, pecans, and walnuts play important roles in heart-health. Loaded with fiber, antioxidants, and plant sterols, they protect against heart disease. They contain the “good” poly- and monounsaturated fats that lower “bad” cholesterol. Almonds and pecans are high in vitamin E, an antioxidant that prevents plaque build-up in the arteries. Macadamia nuts are filled with monounsaturated fatty acids that are favorable for heart health. Walnuts are an excellent plant source of omega-3 fatty acids.
- Dried blueberries, cherries, cranberries, mangos, and raisins are bursting with antioxidants, phytonutrients, and fiber to support the immune system, protect against heart disease, and lower the risk of cancer. A compound in blueberries appears to improve memory and diminish dementia. Tart cherries ease arthritis pain and reduce risk factors for heart disease, diabetes and certain cancers. Cranberries carry potent anti-inflammatory properties. Mangoes are one of the best sources of beta-carotene, a powerful antioxidant that protects against heart disease, cancer, premature aging and degenerative diseases.
- Cocoa was used by ancient Mayan and Aztec civilizations as a traditional medicine for a variety of aliments. Today, cocoa is recognized for its flavonoids, powerful antioxidants that limit damage in many degenerative diseases, and reduce the risk of stroke and heart disease.
- Maple syrup sweetens the immune system! Zinc and manganese, present in the sweetener, are needed by immune cells for optimal functioning. Zinc also protects our blood vessels from harmful oxidation.
- Canola oil can be considered one of the “healthier” fats. When compared to other plant oils, it contains a high amount of monounsaturated fat, the lowest amount of saturated fat, and more omega-3 fatty acids. It also is a great source of vitamin E.
- Cinnamon ranks high in antioxidant activity, and the oil of cinnamon has antimicrobial properties. Recent studies in humans have demonstrated that cinnamon helps control blood sugar by increasing our cells’ ability to metabolize the sugar. It was once believed that cinnamon cures colds!
- Ginger contains potent anti-inflammatory compounds that elevate pain associated with osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis. Ginger also eliminates gastrointestinal distress and motion sickness.
- Nutmeg has strong antibacterial properties and aids digestion. A compound found in nutmeg may improve memory, while another is said to reduce stress.
